Fantastic thanks for the advice. We would only want to be in the Kop! It looks great from the photos! There will just be two of us coming over and we are Leicester City fans from Leicester. I, Kier (Tom being the guy who was posting last night) began following the results of Caen the first time they were promoted to Ligue 1 because I am a huge fan of European football and decided to choose a team to follow in France.

I thought following Lyon or Marseille would be boring so I went for Caen due to the fact they where similar colours to Barca, one of my other favourite clubs. I then found it was really easy to get to for us from England and the interest grew last year as Caen did so well in Ligue 2. We had hoped to get over for the Metz game last season but we were both short on money so we couldn't. We realise the football won't be the best but we support Leicester so we are used to that! We would just love to just come to see Caen once or twice a season and maybe make some friends in France! Being half from Somerset and by the looks of your picture a happy hammer I'm sure you'll understand all of this!

Google traduction is really bad.

You're welcom to come over, there's no history between us and Leicester fans so I'm sure no one will mind!
My picture is a little logo we have been using. The hammers are not refering to West Ham but to the working class symbol. I support WSMAFC over in England.

Bonsoir tous.

Lads, is the only game you want to see the one agaiinst PSG?

We'll be in Normandy for the Toulouse game a fortnight later, and if we can help, we will.

Allez Malherbe

Hello lads. You can speak to me in English.

We live just to the east of Stoke, but have had a second home on the coat not far from Caen since 2003, before then, since 1992, in Brittany. We usually manage to se most of the pre-season friendlies and always time our visits to coincide with a home game - 4-5 matches a year. the rest we watch on the internet.

One problem that you will have is that like many big clubs in England, tickets don't go on sale until the Monday before the game. Despite Caen having a pretty rubbish season, there's always lots of demand for tickets against the "big four" - Lyon, Bordeaux, Marseille, PSG. Otherwise the stadium has been at best 3/4 full since about mid-November.

There'll be plenty of PSG fans there, and not just in the small away fans enclosure. A bit like our top four clubs here - they have "fans" everywhere. paris is only about 2 1/2 hours away, and many Parisians holiday in our region.

Although it will be lovely for you to be in the Pop B with the lads and lasses, don't be too disappointed if you can't get tickets in there. All the other stands are good - no restricted views and decent facilities. All the stands have two tiers.

They sing many of the same songs that we do - just sing along with the English words. Others are easy to get hold of.

Prices vary - cheapest are the ends - Pop B and Pop E. Then the upper tiers at the ends, then the stand opposite the dugouts. most expensive are the stands on the dugout and dressing room/offices side. have only been in there once, and we had free tickets. Even in Ligue 1, prices compare very favourably with the UK, although they can vary from game to game.

As to your travel arrangements, how are you intending to travel? By train? Car? Flight? Train? On foot? Give us some idea and we'll help as best we can.

Keep in touch with these lads, they'll help as much as they can too. have a drink with them before the match. I'm sure someone will meet you before the game, help you get to the stadium etc. They really are a splendid bunch.

ALLEZ MALHERBE!!!

Haha no this is not bullshit, we are genuine. We wanted to go last season but as we were students then we didn't have much money. It's just something different, rather than following the big teams. It is also much easier to get to from here.

I've looked at prices for tickets and it seems really cheap, much better than here in England. We are going to drive to Portsmouth then travel by foot on the ferry to Caen, or Ouistreham, then get a taxi from the port into the town, or maybe the shuttle bus that I read about. I have found some cheap hotels in the town that look ok, we are only there for the night so as long as it has a bed I don't really care. I have never been to France either so it will be an experience. I am hoping we will be ok for PSG because it works out much easier for us to get there and if we cannot get in the kop, we will sit somewhere else

The fans seem like such good people as well so we are looking forward to meeting them and being with them. Any places you can tell us for a drink will be a help too. We are both young and enjoy the odd drink :D

You misunderstood - I was checking to make sure that i wasn't bullshitting you, not the other way around!

Cabs tend to be expensive - much easier to use the bus. they're quick, cheap, clean and frequent.

A decent standard of hotel however is cheap - or should I say English ones are dear?

You seem to have things pretty much sorted.

Caen itself is a bustling, interesting town with a surprising number of historic buildings considering we flattened it it 1944. there's also a thriving concert and club scene I believe, if you're interested in that sort of thing.

Leaving your car in Portsmouth can be expensive. as far as I know there's no free parking anywhere near the port.

I do know that some of the lads get in the bar at the ground - the Brasserie - before the game, although I'm sure there are other places too - Seb, Huisgonde, benoit or any of the other lads will help you out on that.

Anyway, keep in touch if you need owt else, and do post here to let us know how much you enjoyed the game.

BR

Thank you very much for all your help. I am looking forward to visiting. I am very interested in history and I know Normandy has plenty of it because of the war so I should enjoy it.

I do have one final question. When I book the tickets, will they be posted to me or do I collect them at the stadium? I don't want to order them and they not arrive over here in time, as there are only 6 days between them going on sale and the game

No collect at the Stadium if you reserved before, but only at the place where you'll buy them. In the Internet, they sometimes send tickets by mail (maybe by email too).

Before games, some lads often gets the beers in. There are two main bars : one front of stands where the kop are and where you can meet us, and another little further, "Le Bayeux", frequented by fans from Paris or other forums.

And it's indeed easier to use bus to go to Caen from Ouistreham, there is a connection with ferry ("Bus Vert, Ligne 19", called Bus Ferry too).

Sorry for this funny english, but I'm posting quickly.

Merci bien huisgonde.

Ton anglais m’étonne - beaucoup meilleur que mon français!

The ticket office is next door to the bar of which we speak, the Brasserie chaps. It's also the club shop if I remember rightly? Get there early - bar and shop get pretty busy before kick-off.

As I said, these lads will look after you - they're sound.

Not only because of the WWII, there're William the Conqueror's historical monuments too. :)
